Ostuni
Ostuni is one of the gems of Alto Salento, known as the "white city" because most of its historic center was once entirely painted with white lime. At the time, painting all the houses white was a strategy because the sun's light reflected on the houses would blind enemies. The historic center is rich in churches and noble palaces, surrounded by Aragonese walls where we find Porta Nuova and Porta San Demetrio.
Along the Ostuni coast, you will find a surprising play of colors on the beaches, with dunes covered with Mediterranean scrub. Right on the Ostuni coast, Pugliamare has an unparalleled experience in store for you! Organizing a horseback ride through dunes and coasts.
Inland, we find the Plain of Olives, so named for the high presence of centuries-old olive trees, extending to Fasano and Carovigno. A typical Apulian element like the olive cannot be missing from our cultural and food and wine proposals, therefore offering tasting and guidance for farms that produce E.V.O. oil.
Furthermore, with Pugliamare, we offer a guided tour of the city in a particularly original way! Visit Ostuni in a carriage with an Ape Calessino or the tour of the Itria Valley in a Twizy, for an Eco-friendly fun!
