Alberobello
Here we are in Alberobello and its trulli! By now, almost everyone knows that the trulli are in Puglia, but many still wonder where exactly they are located. The town of the trulli is situated in the heart of Puglia, in the province of Bari, and can be reached by car via State Road 16 and then Provincial Road 13.
With Pugliamare, we’ll take you on a journey to discover this UNESCO World Heritage Site, characterized by unique houses built without mortar, using stones stacked one on top of the other. Since it’s a small town, it’s easy to get there and get lost in the narrow streets; in fact, you can explore it in just half a day.
The first thing you’ll find in this fairy-tale town is the Rione Monti district, consisting of 1,030 trulli lined up along various streets, stretching all the way to the Sanctuary of Saint Anthony of Padua, also known as the Trullo. Don’t miss the Museo del Territorio, housed in a complex of interconnected trulli, and the Casa d’Amore, now a valuable tourist information center. This is a town whose main feature is its distinctive cone-shaped roofed dwellings, attracting tourists from all over the world year-round.
Especially during the Christmas season, Alberobello is among the first towns in Puglia to display Christmas decorations in the streets, boosting visitor numbers. Visiting the town of Alberobello and its trulli means not only admiring these historic architectural structures but also experiencing the flavors of the past.
Pugliamare organizes wine tastings in trulli, offering a unique and unforgettable experience.
